It was over. The games were basically over for me. I just kept going through the details in my head. I had done the best figure 8 I could have possibly done. It felt like I was still on the ice. Still spinning and turning and doing the most amazing tricks. I just had a half hour before they told us who the winner was. If they came out and said “Cassandra Smith won” then I would be satisfied. I would not be satisfied unless I won. Over the half hour I just thought about my technique. Finally the judges came out and they began “And the winner is…” They gave a pause for dramatic affect which was very annoying. “Cassandra Smith.”
